Tern expands cargo range with new Orox adventure bike

Tern has unveiled the Orox adventure cargo bike, designed for tackling extreme conditions.

With a max gross vehicle weight of up to 210 kg on road and 180 kg off-road, and up to two XL batteries, the Orox has the power to extend the ride through off-grid explorations.

EFBE-certified and fitted with durable, low maintenance components chosen to withstand hardship, the Orox is built to endure all conditions.

Bespoke Schwalbe all-terrain tyres or stud-compatible Vee Snowball tyres with extra-wide footprint handle
challenging surfaces.

The Tern Orox will be available in two frame sizes, M and L, and two specifications in the UK and Ireland – the S12 and the top of the range R14.

Both models come equipped with a Bosch Performance Line CX motor along with the Bosch Smart System and Kiox 300 Display.

A market-leading range of more than 300 kilometres is possible thanks to a Bosch DualBattery with PowerPack 800.

The S12 utilises a 12-speed Shimano Deore XT while the R14 features a Rohloff 14-speed transmission with a Gates Carbon Drive CDX Belt.

Equipment included as standard: Bosch Connect Module, frame pack to insulate the battery for better performance in freezing weather, Ignis headlight, rear brake light, full coverage fenders and an Atlas Kickstand.

Josh Hon, Tern founder, said: “Six years ago, we introduced the GSD with the belief that a compact and easy-to-ride bike capable of carrying passengers and cargo would get people out of their cars and onto bikes.

“We were right, and we love seeing all the amazing things people are doing with the GSD in crowded cities. But we also realised that there are plenty of places people want to go that are unpaved. And they want to bring their  ear. For those trips, we made the Orox.”

A range of accessories are also being released to supplement the Orox.

Waterproof Cargo Hold 72 Panniers offer 140 litres of capacity per pair. The Clubhouse Gen 3 offers a stronger design to carry firewood or heavy tools. It has been redesigned to fit two Thule Yepp child seats or a 600 x 400 mm Eurocrate

Stow Decks can support up to 35 kg per side and can be locked into position. Both fold out of sight behind the panniers when not in use.

A Trail Rack can be fitted on the fork to carry a maximum of 25 kg. It fits two full-size Ortlieb Back-Roller panniers and has two water bottle mounts.

The Sidekick Wheel Guard is a must-have for carrying passengers and reflective accents enhance visibility in bad weather.
