Fulcrum has announced that it is partnering with Orbea–Leatt–Speed Company riders and team co-founders, Lukas Baum and Georg Egger, joining forces as part of the brand’s off-road racing, and product development, programme.
As riders, Baum and Egger have made a name for themselves in the international MTB scene.
Winners of the 2022 Cape Epic, runners-up in 2023, and with numerous other successful XC Marathon and gravel races to their tally, the duo will race with various products from the Fulcrum range, including the Red Zone Carbon +.
The Red Zone Carbon +, Fulcrum’s most advanced wheel, weighing a reported 1,385 grams, is designed for maximum performance, making it an ideal option for Baum and Egger when the Speed Company team races MTB.
Having recently tested a few prototypes, the Speed Company riders will also be fully involved in the development of new Fulcrum off–road products.
Well known in the XC Marathon world for their recent results, Baum and Egger’s story is quite unique and began in Germany when they used to race against each other as juniors.
They subsequently became friends and later set up Speed Company together, riding to victories as outsiders at events such as the Cape Epic.
The unique aspect of Speed Company is their multidisciplinary approach to racing off road. As well as Marathon races, both race XC and international gravel events.
Baum in particular is the current national gravel champion and winner of the 2023 Migration Gravel Race stage race.
In 2024, when Baum and Egger race gravel events, the 1,490 gram Rapid Red Carbon will be the wheel of choice.
Fulcrum points out that the announcement marks the start of an important partnership, in pursuit of maximum racing performance, and a collaboration for the development of outstanding off road products.
