Port Velo Works is a new and exciting bike service centre located in Portishead, designed to serve our thriving local cycling community. As a start-up, we’re filling an important gap—providing comprehensive, expert-led bicycle servicing and repairs. We’re looking for an experienced and Cytech-qualified Bike Mechanic to join us in shaping the success of Port Velo Works. You’ll be at the heart of our service centre, independently managing all aspects of bike maintenance, repairs, and customer interactions, ensuring a seamless and outstanding customer journey from start to finish.
Key responsibilities for this role include performing comprehensive servicing, diagnostics, and repairs on a variety of bicycles (road, gravel, MTB). Independently manage the workshop and customer workflow. Provide exceptional customer service, including advising customers on repairs, upgrades, and maintenance. Mentor and train junior staff, ensuring high standards and continuous improvement. Maintain workshop organisation, stock management, and uphold high standards of cleanliness and safety.

Within this role you will engage with customers to understand their cycling needs and recommend the best Specialized products. Deliver exceptional customer service from first contact to post-sale support. Build strong product knowledge across the Specialized range – from bikes to gear and accessories. Support the store team with merchandising, inventory, and events. Stay up to date on the latest cycling trends and product developments.
We are looking for the ideal candidate to have a passion for cycling (whether you’re a weekend rider or seasoned racer). Previous retail or customer service experience (bike industry experience is a big plus). Excellent communication skills and a team-first attitude. A proactive, positive, and solution-oriented mindset. Willingness to learn and grow within the Specialized brand.
An exciting, rare opportunity has arisen for a skilled mechanic to join our amazing team, working in a dual capacity, not only on our high-quality Trek hire fleet but also working with our specialist workshop team, on customer bikes. This work will range from simple repairs to highly specialised work. You will gain extensive experience and knowledge working with both, our fleet and our highly renowned team.
The successful candidate will be a fun, engaging individual who is organised, experienced and great with people. The candidate must be qualified to a minimum Cytech Level 2, with previous experience role within a workshop environment. An eye for detail, an ability to analyse, report on and react to any issues, as well as an ability to bring structure and efficiency to the team are all desirable qualities in the ideal candidate.

You’ll take full ownership of directorships, the sales process, and customer service, always approaching challenges with a positive, solutions-focused attitude.
A core part of this role involves total information sharing, acting as a coach, facilitator, and influencer to ensure your team is fully engaged and aligned with our vision and purpose. You’ll master clear and consistent communication, sharing information in a way that resonates and ensures collective buy-in.
You’ll cultivate an environment of discipline and high expectations, holding your team to ambitious standards and ensuring our “one best way” systems are meticulously followed. This requires exceptional organizational skills and a knack for consistently getting things done.
