The top 5 jobs in the bike trade this week – 23rd May

The BikeBiz jobs board helped fill more than 680 positions in 2024, and listings are still on the rise. Here’s our latest top five…

Store Manager

We’re looking for a passionate, driven Store Manager to lead our Alpkit store in the heart of the Lake District. This is more than just a retail role – it’s a chance to make an impact in your local outdoor community, champion sustainable retail, and work with a team that’s as enthusiastic about the outdoors as you are.

Alpkit is a certified B Corp and award-winning UK outdoor brand. We design gear for hikers, bikers, makers, climbers, swimmers, campers and wild wanderers. Our mission? To help people go nice places and do good things, responsibly, adventurously, and welcoming to all adventurers.

You’ll be the beating heart of our Keswick store, leading a small but mighty team, growing the store’s community presence, and delivering an exceptional customer experience. You’ll bring energy, personality and a love of the outdoors to everything you do.

Marketing Director

Muc-Off was established in 1994, and since then we have experienced strong global growth in the bicycle and motorcycle markets. Today, we are global leaders in our field and have a disruptive and distinctive approach to life.  Partnered with some of the world’s best teams and athletes across a range of cycling/powersports disciplines, Muc-Off has become the reference point in the care and maintenance category with exciting and ambitious plans for the future.

This is an awesome time to be part of this truly innovative British brand as we embark upon new territories and sectors, whilst growing our brand presence and engagement for our core portfolio. This is a truly results-driven culture where everyone can make a difference and contribute to the future chapter of the ‘OG’ in bike care.

With continued growth opportunities yet to be realised, there is now a need for an experienced Marketing Director to join the Muc-Off team.  Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer,  the Marketing director is responsible for building and the global marketing plan against key strategic priorities and owning its delivery, analysis and continual improvement whilst leading a team across both bicycle and powersports disciplines accompanied by a class leading suite of teams and athletes.

Merchandiser

Sigma Sports is a premier omnichannel destination retailer specialising in premium road and gravel cycling equipment. Renowned for curating high-quality products and delivering exceptional service, Sigma Sports operates the UK’s leading eCommerce platform, as well as three flagship stores located in Hampton Wick, Oakham and Letchworth, catering to passionate cyclists seeking top-tier performance and style.

Reporting directly into the Merchandising Manager, we are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Merchandiser to assist with the planning, execution, and analysis of inventory, assortment, and financial strategies across our sales channels. The ideal candidate will have strong skills in forecasting, data interpretation, and cross-functional coordination to support the business in maximising sales, improving inventory health, and delivering on the financial KPI’s set within the Purchasing Department.

Social Media and Events Co-ordinator

We are Giant Bicycles — the world’s leading brand in high-performance bikes and gear. But we’re more than just a cycling company. We are on a mission to inspire more people to ride and explore. From cutting-edge innovation and every day performance, to community and cycling culture – everything we do is designed to empower riders to reach their full potential wherever the road, trail or path  takes them.

We are looking for a creative and highly organised Social Media and Events Co-ordinator to help bring our  brands to life online and in person. Based at our UK Head Office in Leicestershire, you will manage content  across multiple social media platforms and help to plan memorable events — from supporting in-store  activations, to demo events and retailer conferences.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about cycling, loves storytelling, and thrives in a fast-paced  and dynamic environment. You will be a key voice for our brand, and a connector with our incredible cycling  communities.

Senior Bicycle Mechanic

We are looking for someone to take over the running of our busy workshop in Twickenham. Our current senior mechanic is relocating to another part of the UK, creating an opportunity for someone to come in and turn this workshop into their very own well-oiled machine. The workshop operates with a senior mechanic and a store team who build bikes and undertake smaller jobs.

Ideally you will be able to say yes to the following: 2 years’ experience working on bikes priced from £500 to £5000+. A commercial outlook. A friendly personality. Prove you can deliver excellent customer service. Good time management and work to a schedule. Enjoy working in a team! Have Cytech level 2 or equivalent (or have the relevant industry experience)

Our Twickenham store sells and services some incredible bikes, so the work is varied and the customers friendly and affluent. This role will suit working mechanics, good bike builders and home mechanics with high level transferable skills, looking to change career.

We need people who want to work in a relaxed customer focused environment, whether you are already a workshop manager and fancy a change, or looking for your first senior mechanic/workshop manager role. We think people work better when they look forward to going to work and we want everyone in our team happy and motivated so they positively engage with and impress our customers each day.
