Leatt launches new gear range for kids

Leatt has announced their new junior range of riding gear for children from age three to early teens.

You are probably familiar with Leatt’s range of helmets, protection, apparel, and shoes for adults, but did you know they also make a full collection for little groms, too? Leatt offers their top technologies and designs in gear that lets the kids in your life feel confident and cool—while you can feel good knowing they’re protected when sending it big – Leatt

Leatt Junior Collection Overview:

• Helmets: Leatt’s junior helmets fit a head circumference of 51-54cm (20-21.25in), with models ranging from a half-shell helmet to a removable chinbar style and full-face gravity model.
• Neck Braces: Kids can protect their necks with junior neck braces or the Fusion Vest Jr, a one-piece combined neck brace and body protector.
• Body Protection: Chest and body protection starts with the Chest Protector 2.5 Mini for the littlest riders (starting around 3 years old), and grows up to the 5.5 Jr for ultimate hard shell impact foam protection with gravity racing in mind.
• Limb Protection: Two knee and elbow guards are available for both gravity riding (3DF 5.0 Jr/Mini) and more pedaly enduro or trail rides (Reaflex Hybrid Jr).
• Apparel: A robust range of junior apparel includes jerseys, pants, shorts, gloves, and even rain protection. Don’t miss the Ride Kit 1.0 Jr, a standout pant and jersey combo for only 90 bucks and sizing starting at XXS (equivalent to about 3-4T).
• Shoes: The Shoe Flat 2.0 Jr gives kids great flat pedal performance, with sizes ranging from US1/UK13/EU32 to US6/UK5.5/EU38.5

Here are more details from the release:

Shredding with gravity groms?

Start with the Gravity 1.0 junior helmet, which is downhill-certified ASTM and includes Leatt’s 360° Turbine Technology to help protect against both linear and rotational impacts. The Enduro 2.0 Jr helmet is a great two-in-one option. It has a removable chin bar, so you can run it as a full face or half shell. Both pair perfectly with the Vizion 2.5 Small goggle, with a smaller frame for kid-sized faces.

For the littlest groms, the Chest Protector 2.5 Mini and Jr is a great intro to body protection—it fits kids as young as about 3 years old. It’s lightweight and comfortable, and they’ll feel like their favourite superhero wearing it. The Fusion Vest 2.0 Jr is a great next step. The one-piece neck/body protector is easy to quickly put on a wriggly kid. As kids need higher levels of protection, it’s time for the Chest Protector 3.5 and 4.5, which have CE Level 1 and CE Level 2 protection, respectively, meaning the 4.5 is certified to take bigger impacts. Pair these with a Junior Neck Brace for full protection.

The best gravity knee and elbow guards for kids are the 3DF 5.0, which come in both mini and junior sizing. They give robust soft-shell impact foam protection with great fit and ventilation, plus CE certification.

Kids can show their style in Leatt’s Junior Gravity and Enduro apparel collections with a great mix of jerseys and pants available. Finish off the kit with 1.0 GripR Junior gloves and Flat 2.0 Junior shoes, which have the same RideGrip™ rubber compound and WaffleGrip pattern as the adult range for great pedal grip.

Pedalling with trail tykes?

If your mini ride crew is into mellower trail rides, the AllMtn 1.0 Junior helmet is a great option. It has Leatt’s 360° Turbine Technology to minimise the risk associated with concussions, with extended rear coverage and an adjustable breakaway visor for optimal safety from all angles. The Enduro 2.0 Jr helmet is another great option. Just run it without the chinbar for those flowy trail days.

Keep knees and elbows covered with the Reaflex Hybrid Jr elbow and knee guards. They are soft and flexible — meaning super comfortable while pedalling — with a slim Reaflex gel pad that hardens on impact and a thin hard shell plate for extra protection. Then just add a jersey and shorts from the Junior Trail apparel collection for a lightweight and cool kit, or check out the Ride Kit 1.0, a great pant and jersey combo for less than 90 bucks.

Partying at the pump track?

A chin bar helmet is always a good idea when kids are learning how to jump or pushing more speed through berms and whoops, but no goggles are needed at a pump track.

Knee and elbow guards are also a smart call to avoid the inevitable scrapes, even if kids like rocking Paw Patrol band-aid at school on Monday. For a casual look, little rippers love the Gravity 3.0 Jr pant, which look like jeans and function like riding pants—just pair those with a t-shirt, and they’re ready to rip.

Sharing the stoke with early riders?

Any mountain biker who has a kid dreams of riding trails with them. With all the amazing kid seats and bikes available these days, you can share your riding stoke earlier than ever.

The AllMtn 1.0 Junior helmet is a perfect option for toddlers just getting introduced to the joy of riding, whether riding with you on your bike, or scooting along on their balance bikes. As they start to test their limits more, the Enduro or Gravity helmets protect their faces while their desire for thrill is greater than their skill.

Plus, with the Ride Kit 1.0 available in XXS (about 3-4T), you can even go full matchy-matchy with your mini-me.

“The Leatt Chest Protector 2.5 Mini was the first piece of protection I ever bought for my son Elliot when he was just three years old,” said Dan Honeycutt, father of Instagram-famous prodigy Elliot Honeycutt. “It was a relief knowing he was protected as he started hitting backyard jumps and riding more technical trails. Now that he’s six, racing downhill, and hitting much bigger jumps, I’m grateful that Leatt has great options to give him the best protection. Of course, crashes happen, and I teach Elliot that it’s part of the getting better, but I never want to see my best buddy get hurt.”

“My kids love Leatt’s Junior line because they can dress just like their dad or favourite pro rider,” said Eric Porter, Leatt athlete, “and the pads and clothes fit great too, even on the little kids! As a dad, I love knowing my kids are protected as their riding progresses.”
