Yeti has announced the launch of their new MTe, a lightweight electric mountain bike with builds starting at “just over 17kg.”
The brand says the MTe “scales out like an enduro race bike and rides like a bike with ‘talent’ included.” It comes equipped with the new TQ HPR 60 drive unit, offering 60nM of torque and 350w max power, something Yeti says is, “the industry’s lightest and quietest.”
The bike also offers 29″ or mixed wheels with adjustable geometry. There’s also an integrated rear fender and downtube guard for added protection. The downtube guard also acts as access to internal cables.
With three builds available in varying specifications, riders can choose from a 580Wh battery on the C2 and T3 builds and a 290Wh battery on the T4 build. All models come with 160mm front and 145mm rear travel.
We put every bit of knowledge acquired on our way to the top of the E-EDR World Cup series into the tune of Sixfinity, which is optimized for MTe’s TQ HPR60 drive unit power traits.
On the MTe, all six members control the wheel path and the shock rate. Sixfinity allows for far greater independence when tuning for acceleration and deceleration, traction, and supportive suspension characteristics unique to a drive unit’s demands – Yeti
According to Yeti, with the MTe, you can adjust the Sixfinity leverage rate progression to fine-tune to your riding style, shock choice and terrain with the flip of a chip. Riders can choose supportive and efficient, or a livelier feel with more bottom-out resistance. In all settings, the linear shape of the MTe suspension curves will provide “consistent, confidence-inspiring predictability.”
The MTe has been designed around Yeti’s World Cup-winning, floating collet axle designed linkage. They use standard-sized cartridge bearings in floating collet axles to align the linkage. Yeti also use custom, proprietary-designed chainguide mounts on the lower pivot bolt for a “lightweight, clean and effective solution.” The MTe also offers 32-34t Max chainring compatibility in two positions.
The display is fully integrated and shows battery level and available range. It also offers smartphone integration with ANT+ and Bluetooth standards. The TQ display shows input, drive unit power, and rpm, along with a catalogue of features for the rider.
Our use of Vectran was pioneered on our Special Projects bikes, it offers DH toughness. The MTe carbon fibre frame is enhanced with Vectran plies, a high-performance multifilament like Kevlar offers exceptional impact resistance and contributes to overall strength –Â Yeti
