Industry Nine has unveiled its Hydra Grade 300 V2 wheelset.
The defining feature of this wheelset is an all-new Grade 300 alloy rim with hollow bead wall technology – a triple cavity design that reduces pinch flats and increases impact resistance.
The hollow bead wall design elevates the performance of alloy rim wheelsets to levels typically associated with carbon rims.
This innovative shaping not only offers wider bead walls for improved impact resistance, but also eliminates the concentrated pinch points found in conventional hook-shaped rims.
Additionally, the triple cavity rim section enhances the structure’s strength and support, significantly reducing the severity of impact deformations.
During in-house testing, the new Grade 300 V2 surpassed the previous generation rim.
In terms of bead shelf deformation, Grade 300 V2 exhibited a 79% improvement under a moderate impact, and under a severe impact showed a 65% improvement.
Regarding bead wall deformation under those same impacts, Grade 300 V2 showed a 72% improvement under a moderate event, and a 66% improvement in a severe impact event.
Additionally, the reduction in spoke tension at the impact site improved by 62% under moderate impact and by 71% under severe impact.
According to the brand, these results confirm that the Grade 300 V2 is the strongest alloy rim Industry Nine has ever produced.
Built on the Hydra 32h system hub and spoke chassis, the Grade 300 V2 wheelset offers a 0.52° engagement freehub system.
It also includes Industry Nine’s trademark direct thread hub shells utilising one-piece machined alloy spokes.
