Ribble has overhauled its original ‘do it all’ bike, with the CGR – Commute, Gravel, Road – range, which is now entering its third generation.

Designed and built for epic, and everyday rides, the CGR comes in both drop bar and flat bar configurations, with carbon, Ti, and alloy frame options, as well as an e-bike build.

A strong seller for the brand since it was first introduced in 2017, the new range has received some significant updates without messing with a winning formula.

Retaining the core focus of the CGR – designed for everything from weekday commutes to big Sunday rides – the range has been overhauled with “a stack of improvements for both its pedal and electric-assist versions”.

At launch, the brand points out that “every frameset in the collection has been redesigned to be more capable, comfortable and confident. Whether you’re riding cycle paths, roads or trails, running racks and bags, or keeping things stripped back, the new CGRs do away with the need for multiple bikes in the garage.”

Speaking at the launch, Jamie Burrow, Ribble’s Head of Product, states: “The CGR range is for riders who don’t fit into a single category. They might ride a sportive one day, take a gravel shortcut back from work the next. One bike, go anywhere.”

The updated CGR range includes aluminium, carbon, titanium and electric models.

All feature mounts for mudguards and racks, 50mm tyre clearance, internal cable routing, and compatibility with 1X and 2X drivetrains. T47 bottom brackets are standard for reliability and easy maintenance.

  • E-models run Mahle X20 or X30 systems with wireless controls and over-the-air firmware updates.
  • All models are now available in Ribble’s SportFit flat-bar configuration, as well as the classic drop bar, for riders who want a more upright, confident position
  • The CGR range runs from an XS (suitable for riders 5’3” / 160cm tall) through to XL (for riders 6’4” / 193cm).
  • Bikes are built to order in the UK, coming with a lifetime frame and fork warranty, and a 30-day test ride guarantee.

Ribble has unveiled the Allroad Ti.

Made from corrosion-resistant 3AL-2.5V Titanium, the headtube and seattube clusters are formed via additive manufacturing (3D printing) to create unique profiles, optimised for aerodynamic efficiencies.

An over-sized threaded T47 bottom bracket increases stiffness and enhances power transfer.

The D-shaped carbon seatpost allows for flex giving additional comfort and features an integrated seat clamp.

The additive manufacturing process also allows for full internal cable routing as the key sections of the frame are formed from scratch, creating cleaner lines to show off the brushed, hand finished titanium frame.

Individually made, each frame is unique and retains subtle traces of the maker’s mark.

Desirable design features include a modern sleek form, smooth hand polished welds with seamless integration alongside laser etched logos and a debossed head badge (generated as part of the additive manufacturing process).

Combined with a wider profile carbon fork, finished in metallic black gloss and brushed metal logos to further enhance the design.

“The Allroad Ti project has been an opportunity to push the boundaries of what is possible with titanium beyond basic round tube profiles,” explains Jamie Burrow, head of product at Ribble.

“The additive manufacturing process has allowed us to take aerodynamic features from our Ultra range and apply them to this bike to create a high-performance titanium road bike with distinctive ride properties.

“From the initial prototype showcased at a leading industry show last year and launch today the bike has been through thousands of miles testing and multiple iterations to hone the design, ride and performance.”

The Allroad Ti forms part of the new Allroad platform designed by Ribble and sits alongside the carbon Allroad SL R, SL and SL R e models.

All Ribble bikes are made to order and the specification can be customised using their configurator tool.

The Allroad Ti featured is based on the ‘Hero’ pre-build specification, with additional upgrades via Ribble’s configurator and comes in at £9,799.

Additional recommended specs in the range include Allroad Ti Hero at £7,999, Allroad Ti Pro at £5,499, Allroad Ti Enthusiast at £4,099 and Allroad Ti Sport at £3,499.

Conductor – the creative agency dedicated to cycling and member of Gruppo Media – the owners of Rouleur, have launched Conductor Productions.

Utilising decades of campaign creation and image-making experience across the Conductor and Rouleur teams, the new department will support brands in creating film and photography that stands out in today’s visually cluttered world.

Over many years, the team, led by MJ Jackson and Jonathan Davies, have created a body of work that covers the entire spectrum of marketing and brand-building activity – from brand hype films to new collection and production launches, event, athlete and ambassador activations and brand asset library creation.

Conductor Productions cafe stop Conductor Productions launched by Rouleur owners

Working across stills and motion, the Conductor Productions team is adept at crafting assets that deliver the story of the product or brand in a highly creative manner of exceptional quality.

Conductor co-founder, MJ Jackson said: “Whether shooting new film and photography, refreshing existing assets or a mixture of both, Conductor Productions look beyond the world of cycling for inspiration and aim to elevate the visual language of the sport we all love.”

Coinciding with the announcement, Conductor Productions and Ribble have collaborated on the launch of the new Ribble Allroad Road+ Collection

Shot in Andorra over two days, the project takes inspiration from the classic films of Jean-Luc Godard and iconic cinematic moments such as the opening scene of The Italian Job. The Road + film tells the story of four friends who are inspired, by a mysterious character, to ‘add more adventure’ to their cycling.

Using this narrative, the film beautifully showcases the range of models in the collection – the competitive Allroad SL, top-of-the-range Allroad SL R and the e-road bike version – Allroad SL R e.

Selecting an Andorran-based team including, Nik Howe, Alex de Cortada and stills photographer Brazo di Hierro, the concept was brought to life across the short film and a wide selection of stills that captured the spirit of the new collection.

Ribble Head of Marketing and PR, Sasha Castling said: “From initial briefing and discussions the team quickly brought to life our ideation with a stunning genre-challenging production, capturing the romance of riding through the intrigue and the unknown of European cinematography and all set in a stunning location.

“Conductor Productions absolutely delivered the inspirational cycling film I was looking for. And that soundtrack…”

Ribble Cycles has unveiled its new Allroad range created with the purpose of “redefining what’s possible on a road bike”.

The Allroad range is the culmination of a three-year R&D and Real-World testing process where advanced technologies, applied manufacturing and technology have been informed by Ribble’s flagship Ultra Road aero platform.

Trickle down aero-optimised technology combines with the endurance properties of a more relaxed geometry to create a platform which can be ridden all-day, on multi-surface terrain, offering performance and enhanced ride experience.

“Our extensive R&D programme has enabled us to introduce key findings into the Allroad range giving each bike a competitive advantage and performance edge resulting in a complete package for all riders,” explains Jamie Burrow, head of product at Ribble.

“The Allroad platform has been meticulously designed and fine-tuned to offer an incredible all-day endurance ride paired with unbeatable performance.”

Ribble Allroad SL

The Allroad platform comprises three models – Allroad SL, Allroad SL R and Allroad SL R e.

Key features across the platform include aerodynamically optimised tube profiles, new endurance specific geometry that does not compromise performance, improved tyre clearance of up to 38mm (SL R & SL R e models), multiple mounting points (including hidden mudguard mounts), multi surface versatility and signature design livery.

Models boast the latest carbon technology with the range-topping SL R and SL R e models featuring an advanced blend of T1000 and M46 fibres

The Allroad SL is constructed from T800 and T700 fibres and shares a number of the key aerodynamic features of the flagship SLR models.

One of the key innovations is the all-new Ribble UB2 bar (Ultra Bar 2nd Gen), available on the SL R and SL R e.

Taking all the advantages of the patented Ultra handlebar’s air-flow disrupting wake generators, aero-sculpted drops and direct mount brake levers, and optimising them for an endurance road setup, the UB2 carbon handlebar brings added adjustability to the fully integrated, cable-free ergonomic design for all day riding on the hoods or drops.

Ribble Allroad SL R

The flagship Allroad SL R also incorporates the aerodynamically advanced technology from the Ultra Road platform.

Ribble’s SL R uses a bespoke blend of M46 and T1000 carbon fibre for reduced weight and maximum strength, weighing in at 7.5kg (Medium Hero build).

The model benefits from aero optimised profiling of the downtube, flared seat stays and wider forks alongside tapered chain stays to aid compliance and tyre clearance up to 38c. The SL R includes internal frame storage in the downtube for all ride essentials and can be completed with Ribble’s aero-optimised bottle cages, making the bike even faster with a bottle than without.

Allroad SL’s full carbon frame and fork is engineered from a blend of T700 and T800 fibres to create a lightweight frame weighing in at 8.8kg (Medium Pro build).

Each fibre is deployed across the frame to achieve minimal overall weight while ensuring a blend of stiffness and compliance in the right zones with frame profiles aerodynamically designed for every watt-saving advantage and a tyre clearance of up to 35c.

The Allroad SL R e takes full advantage of the aerodynamic and advanced construction properties of the SL R platform and pairs it with the Mahle X20 drive system to offer power assistance.

Capable of 140km from a single charge (further increased with the optional range extender to over 200km), the system also includes features such as route planning, and heart rate monitor compatibility which are all updateable from the app via a Bluetooth connection.

The lightweight carbon e-road bikes it weighs in at 11.8kg (Medium Hero build) and has a tyre clearance up to 38c.

The Allroad range is available in recommended builds including Sport, Enthusiast, Pro and Hero.

Allroad SL Sport starts at £1,699 up to the Pro at £2,999. The Allroad SL R Sport begins at £2,999 through to the range-topping Hero spec at £8,299.

The Allroad SL R e Sport starts at £3,999, through to the Hero spec at £8,499.

There is also the option of fine-tuning the specification using Ribble’s Configurator and livery can be further personalised using their CustomColour proposition.

Sean Hastings Ribble Cycles appoints Sean Hastings as new CEO
Sean Hastings

He joins from B2C Group, where he expanded the business internationally, becoming one of Europe’s top-rated water sports retailers.

Prior to that he was chief customer officer at River Island and ran the online business, and before that chief marketing officer at Pentland Brands (owner of brands including Speedo, Berghaus, Endura and Ellesse).

This appointment follows Ribble strengthening the board last year with the appointment of Becks DeNiro as chair of Ribble.

DeNiro has deep experience in product-led and brand driven organisations from her time as CEO at Pure Electric and MD of Dyson UK.

DeNiro commented on Hastings’ appointment: “We are absolutely delighted that Sean is joining Ribble as CEO. The business has an exciting future ahead, and Sean’s extensive experience across product, brand and multi-channel retail will be invaluable as we embark on the next phase of our growth journey and lead innovation within cycling.”

Hastings added: “I’m thrilled to be joining Ribble, a business with such deep roots in cycling. I’m looking forward to working with the team, building on the great product offer and taking the brand on the next stage of its growth journey.”

Current CEO Andy Smallwood will transition to a senior adviser role, ensuring continuity and strategic support for Ribble.

Smallwood’s contributions over the past seven years have been instrumental in transforming Ribble into the cycling brand it is today.

Will Pearson, managing director, True, Ribble’s majority shareholder, said: “We want to thank Andy for everything he has achieved at Ribble over the past seven years.

“The business is almost unrecognisable from when Andy first joined and is now one of the strongest brands in cycling with a fantastic customer proposition and some of the best, award winning bikes in the world.”

Ribble Cycles has curated a collection of bikes for Rouleur Live 2023.

‘The Edit’, showcasing five models, was unveiled at London’s Truman Brewery on Thursday, November 2.

Celebrating the brand’s heritage craftsmanship, innovation and design – The Edit displays premium paint schemes and finishes that reflect artistry in custom hand-built bicycles.

This includes a bespoke ‘hand inked’ Ultimate Urban e-bike created in collaboration with London artist Vic Lee; a hand marbled Gravel SL straight from the Gravel Worlds; a distinctive etched and brushed finished Titanium Allroad prototype incorporating strokes of ‘Marble Ice’; a unique Ultra SL R Forces Edition with a military inspired design to mark the Royal British Legion’s London Poppy Day and Appeal and a sub UCI weight limit Superlight Endurance SL R complete with a mixed metallic paint finish.

All bikes exhibit artistic hand finishing techniques, attention to detail and high spec builds.

Ribble x Vic Lee E 2 s Ribble showcases 'The Edit' collection at Rouleur Live

The collaboration between Ribble and award-winning ‘inkist’ Vic Lee has produced an urban e-bike hand painted by Lee and creates an art piece with a design inspired by a bike ride from the brand’s original store in Preston on Watery Lane on the banks of the River Ribble to Rouleur Live.

According to Ribble, the journey visually expresses the joy and freedom of cycling and interweaves the narrative with the cities, iconic locations, tow paths and twisting roads down to Shoreditch.

Lee has ‘inked’ the entire frame, fork, seat post and bar in his own style working on a base layer specially mixed and created to allow his work to visually pop.

The Alloy Vic Lee E special edition frame with carbon fork is built with FSA KFX SiC integrated ICR carbon flat bar, SRAM AXS XPLR 1 x 12 groupset with Hope RX Crankset and Spiderless Chainring, Hope Tech 4 Levers combined with X2 calipers and Hope floating rotors, Mavic Cosmic SL45 with Mahle X35 hub motor wheels, Pirelli Angel GT Urban, 42mm tyres, Level 3 carbon seatpost and Brooks Cambium Carved saddle.

Ribble Endurance SL R Superlight 1 s Ribble showcases 'The Edit' collection at Rouleur Live

The Ribble Endurance SL R includes the Purple Haze mixed metallic paint finish and gold decals as imagined by Ribble’s head of product, Jamie Burrow and realised by Ribble’s in-house paint specialists.

The Carbon Moncoque frame is finished with Shimano Dura Ace Di2 2×12 Groupset with a THM Clavicular chainset, Mavic Cosmic Ultimate Disc Wheelset with 26mm Pirelli P Zero Race SL TLR tyres and Selle Italia’s SLR Boost SuperFlow Tekno full carbon saddle.

Ribble Ultra SL R Forces Edition 2 s Ribble showcases 'The Edit' collection at Rouleur Live

The Forces Edition takes its artistic interpretation and cue from the WWII Spitfire aircraft livery adorned with Allied striping and RAF target on the green fuselage and has been designed to coincide with the launch of the Royal British legion’s London Poppy Day.

The design represents the forces and honours all service men and women.

It heralds the Poppy Appeal and biggest fundraising campaign held every November during the period of Remembrance.

The design has been applied to Ribble’s flagship road model, the aerodynamically optimised Ultra SL R. The Forces Edition features an authorised one-off Royal British Legion logo adorned Kapz Titanium Top Cap to seal the brands union.

A carbon moncoque frame, Ultra aero integrated handlebar is paired with SRAM Red AXS Aero 1 x 12 groupset with CeramicSpeed OSPW Aero System, Zipp 454 NSW Carbon Tubeless Disc Wheelset, Pirelli P Zero Race TLR (Classic), 30mm tyres, Ribble Ultra SL R Seatpost (10mm lay back) and a Selle Italia SLR Boost 3D Kit Carbonio Superflow 3D-printed saddle.

Ribble Allroad Ti Prototype 2 s Ribble showcases 'The Edit' collection at Rouleur Live

The all-new Allroad is a 3al/2.5v titanium frame using additive-manufactured head-tube and seat-tube clusters.

This process was specifically chosen to further enhance the design and improved aerodynamics, with internal cable routing, integrated seat clamp and the ability to blend optimised tube profiles.

Furthermore, it provides the freedom to create shapes with a high strength to weight ratio coping with more multi directional loads as well as allowing engineers to put material where required to deal with specific stresses as opposed to taking material away in a more traditional format like CNC milling.

The head tube and seatpost is paired with a carbon fork, Ribble RS-2 Prototype stem and Ribble UB-2 Prototype carbon aero handlebar, Shimano Dura Ace Di2 2 x 12 groupset, Hope RX4+ calipers and Hope road rotor brakes, Hope RD40 Carbon wheels with Pro5 hubs, Pirelli Cinturato Gravel H Classic in 35mm tyres, LEVEL 3 carbon seatpost, Selle Italia SLR Boost 3D Kit Carbonio Superflow 3D-printed saddle.

The frame is brush finished titanium with an Ice Marble fork and cockpit and completed with Ice Blue etched logo and embossed head badge.

Ribble is taking their award-winning Gravel range to “the next level” with the introduction of the Stone Collection.

The Stone Collection features an exclusive and unique series of three CustomColour hand painted finishes that can be added on the brand’s Gravel platform.

Ribble’s Stone Collection draws inspiration from rock formations found in the natural world, bedrock and landscapes associated with the exploration of gravel riding and is available in three effects; Marble White, Granite Grey and Slate Black.
