LDN Riders join pride parade in fine fettle

This past weekend saw LDN Riders cycling club take part in Pride in London, supported by Fettle.

LDN Riders, London’s largest LGBTQ+ cycling club, with over 500 members, was represented by 75 riders who joined the parade. The group were accompanied by members of the team at Fettle, the bike servicing company, which sponsors the club.

The group gathered for a pre-parade party on their bikes at Fettle’s Hyde Park workshop. This is handily located for the start point of the parade and the group used it as their base for the event.

LDN Riders has taken part in Pride in London for the past three years, with this year the club’s biggest turnout yet. The club’s participation reflects its mission to create a safe, inclusive and welcoming space for LGBTQ+ cyclists of all abilities.

This year, the club was especially proud to carry a strong message of trans inclusion: a vital statement at a time when trans communities face increasing challenges and discrimination.

Ben Smith, Chair of LDN Riders, said: “Pride is a highlight of our year. It’s amazing to bring visibility to LGBTQ+ cyclists and to celebrate as part of such a vibrant event. We were especially proud this year to stand up for trans inclusion, and to show that our club is a space where everyone can belong. We’re grateful to Fettle for their support in helping us show up as a club and champion inclusion on two wheels.”

Jeyda Heselton, founder of Fettle, joined the LDN Riders in the parade. She said: “Our mission at Fettle is to help ensure cycling is as inclusive as possible. We’re delighted to be supporting LDN RIDERS and were really proud to see all the club jerseys line up in the parade. We believe that the more people we can get using pedal power the better. We should aim to make sure the country’s cyclists reflect the diversity of the nation as a whole and LDN Riders presence at Pride in London helps highlight that ambition.”
